Gears of War: E-Day Gets Custom Gibson Guitars for Marcus and Dom

Three of the four hand-painted instruments will be awarded through an Instagram giveaway, with winners announced October 16, 2026.

Gears of War: E-Day is getting a pair of custom Gibson guitars built around the series’ central brotherhood. Xbox announced the collaboration with Gibson Guitars and The Coalition on August 19, 2026, in an Xbox Wire announcement.

The collection includes a Gibson Les Paul inspired by Marcus Fenix and a Gibson SG designed around Dominic Santiago. Artist and illustrator Luke Preece hand-painted the artwork, while Gears of War: E-Day composer Adam Lastiwka used Gibson guitars while recording the game’s soundtrack.

Marcus Fenix’s Les Paul brings the brutality

Marcus’ guitar uses a weathered skull, a COG Tag backdrop, chainsaw blades, Locust blood, and fractured textures to reflect the violence surrounding Emergence Day. The design is built to represent Marcus’ grit, determination, and relentless approach to the war on Sera.

Preece said the Les Paul took the most work because the guitar’s hardware interrupted some early concepts. The team ultimately leaned into a circular saw-blade motif, using the instrument’s shape to support the aggressive artwork.

Dominic Santiago’s SG carries the emotional weight

Dominic’s SG takes a more somber direction. Its artwork features a tearful, battle-worn skull surrounded by barbed wire and crimson poppies, imagery tied to remembrance and the character’s history.

Wings and angelic imagery connect the SG to Dom’s story, including the themes associated with Maria. Together, the two instruments reflect the game’s emotional pillars of Brutality and Pathos through very different visual styles.

Only four guitars were produced. Each one is numbered and signed, and the hand-painted work means that even guitars using the same design are not exact copies.

Gamescom 2026 will host the first public showing

Fans attending Gamescom 2026 in Cologne, Germany, will be able to see the guitars in person at the Xbox booth. Their public debut will take place ahead of Gears of War: E-Day‘s scheduled launch on October 6, 2026.

Three guitars will be given away

Fans in Xbox-supported regions can enter the giveaway beginning August 19, 2026, by liking and commenting on the Instagram announcement post. The prize pool includes two Marcus Fenix-inspired Les Paul guitars and one Dominic Santiago-inspired SG.

Winners will be selected at random and announced on October 16, 2026. The full giveaway rules and terms provide the remaining eligibility details.

Gears of War: E-Day is scheduled to launch October 6, 2026, on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox PC, and Steam. It will also be available on day one through Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass.
