Gears of War: E-Day Brings DLSS 4.5 and Ray Tracing to PC

The Coalition is working with NVIDIA on PC performance, while AMD FSR, Intel XeSS, Unreal Engine TSR, and precompiled shaders will support a wider range of systems.

Gears of War: E-Day is being built with PC players in mind, and The Coalition has partnered with NVIDIA to bring a collection of RTX features and performance tools to the upcoming prequel. The partnership covers optimization work from development through launch, with the game also targeting a broad range of PC hardware.

In an announcement published on July 14, Xbox Wire detailed the PC technology planned for Gears of War: E-Day. The game uses Unreal Engine 5 and DirectX 12, with hardware ray tracing intended to improve lighting, environments, and scene detail during the story of Emergence Day.

The Coalition rendering lead Mike Perzel said the team wants the game to deliver responsive gameplay and strong visual quality on both console and PC. NVIDIA’s involvement gives the studio another way to tune the PC version around frame rates, latency, and image quality.

NVIDIA DLSS 4.5 Features Arrive at Launch

PC players will have access to NVIDIA DLSS 4.5, including Dynamic Multi Frame Generation and Super Resolution. NVIDIA Reflex is also being integrated to reduce latency and improve input response.

That combination should give supported GeForce RTX systems more options when balancing resolution, frame rate, and responsiveness. Ray tracing will work alongside the other rendering features for players who want a more detailed presentation of E-Day’s dark, war-torn environments.

Support for AMD, Intel, and Unreal Engine Tools

The Coalition is not limiting the PC version to NVIDIA technology. AMD FSR, Unreal Engine TSR, and Intel XeSS will also be available on compatible hardware.

The game will use Advanced Shader Delivery as well. The system delivers precompiled shaders with the game, which can cut down loading times and help prevent shader stutter during a system’s first run. It will be supported across the Microsoft Store and Xbox PC app, with support for more hardware and storefronts planned over time.

Gears of War: E-Day takes place fourteen years before the original Gears of War and follows Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago during the first Locust attacks. The PC version will support the campaign, the four-player Horde Siege PvE mode, and Versus multiplayer. The game also includes two-player split-screen on console and online play for up to four players.

Early Access for the Open Beta begins on August 6, 2026. Gears of War: E-Day launches on October 6, 2026, so the PC optimization work will continue ahead of both scheduled milestones.
