Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026 Will Bring a Packed Lineup on August 25
The roughly two-hour broadcast will include Silent Hill: Townfall, Tides of Annihilation, Gears of War: E-Day, and other confirmed games.

Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026 is scheduled for August 25 in Cologne, Germany, and the showcase already has a sizeable group of confirmed games attached to it. The event will form part of Gamescom’s week-long celebration, bringing developers, publishers, media, and fans together for a mix of trailers, world premieres, and announcements.
The broadcast is expected to run for around two hours. Alongside the confirmed lineup, several rumored appearances could bring extra surprises, including updates for games that have not yet received an official place in the show.
Confirmed games for Gamescom Opening Night Live
The announced lineup covers RPGs, action games, strategy titles, and online experiences. These games have been confirmed to appear during the showcase:
- Final Fantasy 7: Revelation
- Metro 2039
- Silent Hill: Townfall
- Tides of Annihilation
- Gears of War: E-Day
- EXODUS
- Ananta
- ONTOS
- Game of Thrones: War for Westeros
- Showa American Story
- Valor Mortis
- Pony Island 2
- Path of Exile 2
- Monster Hunter Outlanders
- Cinder City
- AION2
- Warlock Dungeons & Dragons
The Witcher 3 expansion Songs of the Past is also drawing attention ahead of the broadcast. The project is rumored to connect the decade-old game with the upcoming sequel, The Witcher 4, although its appearance remains unconfirmed.
Games that could appear during the showcase
Alien Isolation 2 was officially revealed during Summer Game Fest, and its prologue will be playable on the Gamescom show floor. That presence could make another trailer during Opening Night Live possible, but no broadcast appearance has been confirmed.
Fable is another candidate for a new look. The game was delayed to 2027, and a fresh trailer or gameplay segment would give fans more to watch while they wait for its longer development period.
A leaked report also points to a surprise sequel from an existing IP connected to XBOX. The project is reportedly being developed outside Microsoft’s own studios, while Banjo-Kazooie has reportedly been ruled out as the franchise involved.
Worms Galactic Tactics could receive its official reveal after the game’s full title and artwork leaked online. The project is described as a turn-based strategy game in the vein of XCOM, which would take the Worms series in a different direction.
Hogwarts Legacy 2 is also under consideration. Warner Bros. Games has already treated the sequel as a priority, so Opening Night Live would be a natural place for an early announcement or update, even though no appearance has been confirmed.
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is reportedly planned for February 2027. With Tomb Raider: Catalyst delayed to 2028, the showcase could provide an opportunity to show more of the remake, but the game remains part of the rumor list.
Other possible announcements
Opening Night Live regularly includes world premieres that are kept secret until the broadcast begins. Beyond the larger rumors, the following games could also receive a trailer, release update, or other announcement:
- Resident Evil 9 DLC
- Forza Horizon 6 PS5 Release Date
- Castlevania Belmont’s Curse
- Kena: Scars of Kosmora
- Star Wars Jedi 3
- Jurassic Park Survival
- Fallout 3 Remake
- ARC Raiders
- Modern Warfare 4
- Control Resonant
- Guild Wars 3
- 1666 Amsterdam
- SAW Genesis
- 007 First Light
- ILL
For now, the confirmed games are the safest guide to what viewers can expect on August 25. Everything in the rumored section should be treated as unconfirmed until the broadcast provides an answer.
