STAR WARS: The Old Republic’s Phase 4 Puts Venture: Classic and Force Beast on the PTS

The second Children of Nul boss joins the test alongside Scoundrel and Assassin/Shadow balance work and an updated Legacy Perk cost breakdown.

Phase 4 of Game Update 8.0 is now available on the Public Test Server for STAR WARS: The Old Republic, bringing Venture: Classic, the second Children of Nul boss, and more class testing. The latest announcement confirms that players can now try the new content. The preceding 8.0 PTS phase introduced overworld Difficulty Modes, Guardian/Juggernaut and Operative balance tests, and the first Legacy Level 60 perks, as detailed in the Difficulty Modes and class balance update.

Venture: Classic starts with two Origin Stories

Venture: Classic is available for Jedi Knight and Imperial Agent Origin Stories. The new system is designed to recall the feel of the game’s original launch while giving players a tougher version of the standard story experience.

Character creation now includes an option to make a Venture-specific character. Classic locks that character to Veteran Difficulty, while the Expert option will use Master Difficulty when it becomes available later.

Progressing through a Venture requires completing specific objectives. Venture characters can also use special enemies, loot, consumables, and Venture currency, including powerful grenades, challenges that grant temporary buffs, and maps that lead to Venture-specific enemies with special loot.

Limited-use items can also unlock Ventures-only Quick Travel points and temporary speed boosts. The system gives the familiar story path a separate set of goals and tools without turning it into a standard character progression track.

Force Beast opens the second Children of Nul encounter

The phase gate on Odessen now leads to Force Beast, the second boss of the Children of Nul Operation. A droid in the boss room lets players make balance adjustments as needed during testing, following the approach used for the Nul Acolyte encounter in the first Children of Nul PTS phase.

Recordings and VODs of boss attempts and takedowns are welcome as part of the testing process. Players can find more information and leave feedback in the Force Beast feedback thread.

Scoundrel and Assassin/Shadow balance tests join the PTS

Phase 4 also adds class balance work for Scoundrel and Assassin/Shadow. An updated cost breakdown for Legacy Perks is available alongside the new combat tests, giving players another part of the progression system to review before Game Update 8.0 reaches the live game.
