Dead by Daylight players may need to update older software and drivers to keep launching the game beginning July 30, 2026. The game’s Security Team shared the warning in an official Steam announcement, though it did not provide a complete list of affected programs.
The notice follows internal investigations and discussions with the game’s partners. According to the Security Team, some older software categories have known vulnerabilities that could affect access to Dead by Daylight. A specific application and version list was withheld because the issue may involve a wide range of software.
Software categories that may be affected
- RGB and motherboard utilities
- CPU, GPU overclocking, and other tuning utilities
- Certain BIOS utilities
- Hardware monitoring utilities
- Utilities that use direct port access
- OEM updater utilities
- Other anti-cheat, anti-hack, and antivirus utilities
The announcement does not say that every program in these categories will block the game. Players who run into technical problems can contact the Dead by Daylight Player Support Team for help.
With the change scheduled for July 30, players who use hardware-control, monitoring, tuning, or security tools should check for available updates before that date.
