So, I just stumbled upon some juicy news about Borderlands 4, and let me tell you, it’s making my heart race with excitement! If you’ve been living under a rock, the game’s narrative director has teased us with some significant changes heading our way. They’re cutting back on the toilet humor we’ve come to know all too well.
The team behind Borderlands 4, which will drop next year (mark those calendars!), looks like they’re aiming for a fresh take. During The Game Awards, Sam Winkler, the narrative director, revealed that they are shaking things up. He said it’s their most ambitious project yet. Winkler also shared that he’s been collaborating with some hilarious writers this time around, a crew he respects and admires. But here’s where it gets interesting: he didn’t hold back when asked about the infamous bathroom jokes in Borderlands 3. He wants less reliance on that kind of humor moving forward.
You can hear his frustration when he quipped, “I’m not gonna say there’s no toilets, but if the word skibidi ships in the game under my watch, I’m gonna cry real tears.” Seriously, how relatable is that? It feels like we’re all just trying to keep things classy while exploring these wild gaming worlds!
I’m not gonna say there’s no toilets but if the word skibidi ships in the game under my watch I’m gonna cry real tears. Paul Tassi joked that we were gonna have a gun called Hawk 2A and a fellow dev asked me if it was real and I wanted to put my hand down the sink grinder

If you don’t know what “Skibidi” refers to, it’s linked to those hilarious viral videos featuring dancing toilets! And then there’s “Hawk 2A,” a nod to another meme. Honestly, it showcases how deep internet culture runs within gaming today.
Now, here comes my take, while many loved the chaotic charm of previous installments, others rolled their eyes at some of those cringe-worthy moments. The franchise started off strong with its clever humor let’s hope they find that balance again!
If you’re as curious as I am about how this will pan out and whether they’ll hit that sweet spot between laughs and storytelling magic, stay tuned! What do you think? Is less toilet humor going to make or break your experience? Feel free to share your thoughts below!
