Ghost of Yōtei’s Most Wanted Rebuilt Jin Sakai With 60+ Combat Animations
Sucker Punch also restored Jin's signature stances, refreshed his armor and movement sounds, and brought Daisuke Tsuji back to voice him.

Jin Sakai’s return in Ghost of Yōtei: Most Wanted involved far more than restoring his familiar armor. Sucker Punch adapted and rebalanced more than 60 of his attack animations for Yōtei’s combat, while bringing back the parts of his fighting style that make him recognizable. The studio shared the process in a PlayStation Blog breakdown of Jin’s return.
Most Wanted’s class-based roguelike format was designed around replayable runs, combat mastery, and perspectives beyond Atsu. Jin’s return as a playable character had been confirmed ahead of the mode’s October 1, 2026, launch. Sucker Punch initially prototyped the mode with other characters, then decided that including Jin meant bringing back his full combat identity, including all four stances and his sticky bomb. Access requires an internet connection, a PlayStation account, and patch v.2.0 or later.
More than 60 of Jin’s attacks needed to be retargeted to Yōtei’s character rig and adjusted for its combat systems. Most have individual kill animations. Stone Stance’s Piercing Strike proved too powerful in its first version, while custom strafe animations helped Jin work with Yōtei’s Focus Attack system. His Rattling Parry perk adds Stagger damage on successful parries, making Parry Interrupts happen more often. Other perks support Perfect Parries and reward following Quickfire with a melee attack.
The team also updated Jin’s armor, face, and hair to match Yōtei’s visual detail without losing the familiar design. It used his earlier textures as a base, then refined details such as his skin, facial hair, and scar. Jin’s idle actions returned as well, and his character-selection animation takes inspiration from the scene in Ghost of Tsushima where he first recovers the storm blade.

Audio received its own round of careful adjustments. Daisuke Tsuji returned to voice Jin, and the team reworked his movement sounds for Yōtei’s animation-tagging system. It also restored signature attacks including Heavenly Slash, Dance of Wrath, and Ghost Stance, and recorded a new version of Jin’s musical theme with Justin Johnson on lap steel guitar. Tsuji’s recording sessions included confrontations with each Yōtei Six member, and even yielded a few Jin lines for the main game.
