The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake has received its first Famitsu review ahead of its Nintendo Switch 2 launch, earning 37 out of 40. A Japanese report from Ryokutya2089 says the magazine’s latest issue published the review.
Famitsu’s four critics scored the game 10, 9, 9 and 9 out of 10. The review praised the remake’s flexible camera, more accessible controls and progression, and detailed visuals. Some reviewers found it simple compared with many current games and felt a few moments could leave players confused.
The camera change gives players more direct control over the view, with the Switch 2’s twin sticks allowing camera movement independent of Link. Gyro aiming, a new dash and quicker item access are among the remake’s other announced control updates.
Ocarina of Time 3D also scored 37/40 in Famitsu in 2011, matching the Switch 2 remake. The Nintendo 64 original was the first game in Famitsu’s history to earn a perfect 40, leaving the remake 3 points short of that score. The remake is scheduled to launch exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2 on Nov. 5, 2026.
