Pokémon GO Confirms Eternatus Return During Dynamax Trails

The Nov. 21 Eternamax battles award Candy instead of a catch, while GO Pass offers new owners an Eternatus encounter or existing owners 100 Candy.

Pokémon GO’s Dynamax Trails event runs from Nov. 16 at 10 a.m. through Nov. 23 at 8 p.m. local time, bringing Eternatus back through the GO Pass and Eternamax Eternatus back to Max Battles. The schedule includes 10-hour Max Battle windows on Nov. 16 and 23, while the Eternamax battles take place on Nov. 21 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. local time.

A 15-second teaser posted on Oct. 26 showed Eternamax Eternatus looming over a Power Spot. The Dynamax Trails announcement now fills in the event schedule and the rewards tied to each form.

Dynamax Trails falls late in the Twilight Trails season, which is scheduled to run through Dec. 1. The season’s November Community Day is also scheduled for Nov. 21, the same day as the Eternamax battles.

Max Battles and event bonuses

Previously released Dynamax Pokémon may appear in Max Battles during the event, with Legendary and Mythical Pokémon excluded. A successful catch has a chance to receive a Special Background. Event-themed Pokémon that have debuted in Dynamax Max Battles may also appear in the wild, with Legendary and Mythical Pokémon excluded from those encounters as well.

More Power Spots will be active and they will refresh more often. Trainers can also have a chance to receive Max Particles after catching event-themed Pokémon in the wild or completing Max Battles. Catches made with the Explorer Gadget or a Pokémon GO Plus + will not grant those particles.

During the Nov. 21 Eternamax battles, Power Spots provide 8× Max Particles and the collection limit rises to 2,400. The daily Remote Raid limit increases from 10 to 30 from Nov. 20 at 1 p.m. to Nov. 21 at 6 p.m. PST (GMT-8).

Event Field Research offers Stardust, Eternatus Candy, and encounters with event-themed Pokémon. Grookey, Scorbunny, and Sobble feature in Spotlight Hour on Nov. 19 from 6 to 7 p.m. local time, with 2× Catch Candy. Event stickers are available through PokéStops, Gifts, the in-game shop, and GO Pass progress.

GO Pass offers an Eternatus encounter or Candy

The free GO Pass is granted automatically on Nov. 16 at 10 a.m. local time. Trainers who claim Tier 1 rewards on GO Pass: Into the Wild can access it early, starting Nov. 14 at 10 a.m., and receive a free upgrade to GO Pass Deluxe: Dynamax Trails. Otherwise, Deluxe costs US$4.99. A Web Store purchase also includes 10 Ultra Balls, five Max Revives, one Premium Battle Pass, and five Max Potions.

Trainers who have not caught Eternatus can encounter it through the free pass. Those who already own it receive 100 Eternatus Candy instead. Other rewards include event-themed Dynamax encounters with a Special Background, Eternatus Candy and Candy XL, Rare Candy, Stardust, and stickers. GO Pass Deluxe adds more event-themed encounters and Eternatus Candy and Candy XL, along with Silver Pinap Berries and Rare Candy XL. Unclaimed rewards expire Nov. 25 at 8 p.m. local time.

The pass also adds bonuses at three ranks. Rank 15 grants 2× Catch Stardust. Rank 35 halves the Stardust and Candy costs to activate the Dynamax Cannon Adventure Effect. Rank 55 adds Candy and Candy XL from Max Battles.

Eternatus Candy remains the battle reward

Trainers will receive Eternatus Candy and Candy XL from the Nov. 21 battles, not a catch encounter. The GO Pass is the route to a regular Eternatus encounter for players who do not already own one, while the battle rewards help owners build up their existing Pokémon.

Eternamax Eternatus last appeared during GO Fest 2025: Max Finale, where defeating it required large groups of Trainers. Those Max Battles awarded Eternatus Candy and Candy XL without another catch, while GO Pass: Max Finale offered one regular Eternatus encounter. Eternamax itself could not be caught.

Taking Eternatus from Level 15 to Level 50 costs 8,900 Eternatus Candy and 8,900 Candy XL. Raising Dynamax Cannon, Max Guard, and Max Spirit to Level 3 costs another 8,000 Candy and 960 Candy XL, bringing the total to 16,900 Candy and 9,860 Candy XL.
