One level 66 Trainer and a level 52 friend primarily used Mega Mewtwo Y. Their Pokémon were around 7,100 and 5,300 CP, and the pair finished with only seconds remaining. The account also suggested that two Trainers with Mega Mewtwo Y around 5,500 CP each and a weather-boosted charged move could attempt the raid, while three Trainers should have a more comfortable margin.
That result comes from one informal attempt, so it does not establish a universal duo threshold. Movesets, weather, timing, and other team differences can change the outcome. Trainers near the reported CP range can treat a two-person run as a calculated attempt, while bringing a third player gives the group more room for missed attacks or fainted Pokémon.
The same account questioned why many groups wait for at least five Trainers, saying it had noticed a similar pattern with other high-level raids. That observation is anecdotal, but the Xerneas result offers a useful reminder that a full lobby may not always be necessary for well-prepared teams.
