PEAK Crossplay Is Live on Steam, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Switch 2

Room codes bring players together, but save progress and earned badges do not transfer between platforms.

PEAK crossplay is now live on Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2, completing the plan for the October 22 console launch. Players can join the same lobbies using room codes, as confirmed in the Steam announcement.

Room codes are the way to bring a mixed-platform group together. There is no save progress transfer between platforms, so badges earned on one version will need to be earned again on another.

Mods are not guaranteed to work in cross-platform lobbies. The developers say client-side mods might work, but they could also cause problems. If an issue comes up, they ask players to try without mods before submitting a bug report.

The team also cautioned that launch-day connection problems or bugs could surface and asked players to include as much detail as possible in reports. Players can send reports to [email protected], the official PEAK Discord, or the Steam forums.

PEAK’s final content update arrived in August, and the developers do not plan more major updates. They will keep an eye on bug reports and wrap up remaining loose ends. The map rotation is gaining 208 maps that will cycle indefinitely, giving the game a continuing supply of climbs even without updates every two weeks.

Version 3.0.0 also fixes a handful of gameplay issues, including shoulder-climbing, invisible trees in Mesa, a revive bug, and a Bookworm badge cheat. The team says it has hopefully fixed a problem that could delete the Kiln’s campfire when a new game starts.

PEAK 3.0.0 Patch Notes

Bugfixes

  • Walking into a crouching scout will once again allow you to climb onto their shoulders
  • Scouts can no longer climb on invisible trees in the Mesa
  • Dead scouts should no longer find themselves warped into space when revived by the Scout’s Honour
  • Removed the bookworm badge cheat. You will now need to earn the bookworm badge normal style!!
  • Hopefully fixed an issue that would sometimes cause the Kiln’s campfire to be deleted when a new game starts

Modder Notes

  • Island maps have now been moved into assetBundle files
  • There are 208 of them. They are not expected to be modified much, ever, except to fix case-by-case critical issues with procgen.

Peak

Peak is a cooperative climbing game for up to four players. After crash-landing on an unknown island, players take the role of scouts attempting to ascend the mountain at its center. The mountain is semi-procedurally generated and changes every 24 hours, featuring five distinct biomes with unique obstacles and enemies. Players manage stamina, collect climbing tools like ropes and pitons, and must work together to survive hazards while ascending.
