Doug Jung and Daniel Casey Remain Attached to Amazon’s Mass Effect Series
The Prime Video adaptation remains active as BioWare closes, with a new story planned after the original trilogy.

Amazon’s Mass Effect adaptation remains in production despite BioWare’s closure. People familiar with Prime Video’s project told IGN the shutdown had not affected the series, and one source said everyone involved remained on board. Amazon MGM Studios has been developing the show since 2024.
Doug Jung remains attached as showrunner, and Daniel Casey is writing the series. Karim Zreik, Ari Arad, and Michael Gamble remain executive producers. Much of the creative team also works on Amazon’s Fallout series.
BioWare’s Oct. 21 closure announcement said early development on the next Mass Effect game was ending. Amazon’s adaptation is a separate project, and the studio’s closure has not halted its work.
In April, Amazon was seeking script rewrites to make the series more accessible to viewers unfamiliar with the games before a full green light, as The Ankler reported.
BioWare’s Nov. 7, 2025, N7 Day blog described an active writers’ room and a new story set after the original trilogy, rather than another telling of Commander Shepard’s journey.
Following the closure, Gamble thanked fans for their support over his 17 years at BioWare. He asked people aware of job openings to send them to his team and said he would personally vouch for his colleagues. He ended with the line, “At least I don’t have to call in sick when GTA 6 comes out.”
I could probably scroll for hours and continue reading the words of support for the studio, the legacy, and the impact that BioWare has had on you. It means so much to us. There is so much talent on this team of of OGs, so if you are aware of any roles, please send them. I will…
