The studio’s more than three decades of work span Baldur’s Gate, Neverwinter Nights, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Dragon Age, Mass Effect and Anthem. Its farewell says the immediate focus is supporting the team through the transition.
EA’s $55 billion buyout closed in August under a consortium led by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, alongside Silver Lake and Affinity Partners. BioWare’s next Mass Effect remained in development afterward, despite concerns about future funding.
Bloomberg reports that EA’s new cuts will eliminate around 400 jobs.
