Hunt: Showdown 1896 Adds Free Written in Blood Story Challenge

The challenge sends Hunters after Bloodskin, a new Boss Target stalking compounds during Blood Testament.

Hunt: Showdown 1896 has added a new free Story Challenge to the Blood Testament event. Written in Blood is available now and sends Hunters after Bloodskin, a new Boss Target stalking the compounds.

Bloodskin continues the story as the horrors surrounding the Blood Moon become harder to ignore. Hunters must decide whether the danger is worth the profit, with the new target offering another reason to enter compounds that were already dangerous enough.

Blood Testament went live with Update 2.9 on September 8. The update introduced the Blood Moon’s shifting phases, which can reduce visibility or make monsters more aggressive, along with the Burgess shotgun, new Traits, hidden location changes, and other gameplay adjustments.

Crytek’s Steam announcement describes Written in Blood as the latest free Story Challenge, but does not provide additional objectives beyond the Bloodskin hunt in the announcement. The new target is now part of the Blood Testament story for players ready to risk a run through the bayou.

Will Bloodskin be worth the danger, or will the Blood Moon claim another Hunter? Share your thoughts in the comments, and follow us on X, Bluesky, YouTube, Instagram, Steam, and Telegram.
