Euro Truck Simulator 2’s Iceland DLC Adds 4 Ferry Routes and Transparent Water

A fictional route from Ålesund opens another path into Iceland, while new water effects reveal submerged terrain and add foam to rivers.

Euro Truck Simulator 2’s Iceland DLC will add 4 ferry connections and water effects that reveal rocks and terrain beneath the surface. SCS Software details the crossings and water changes in its latest Iceland announcement. The expansion is scheduled to launch on November 10, 2026.

Three routes bring drivers to Iceland

Drivers will have three ways to reach Iceland by sea. Hirtshals in Denmark connects to Seyðisfjörður on a route based on a real Smyril Line ferry service. From Rotterdam’s Europoort, the game adapts Smyril Line Cargo’s freight route to Þorlákshöfn into a regular ferry connection for trucks and trailers.

A third crossing will link Ålesund in Norway with Seyðisfjörður. The route does not exist in real life, but it will open Ålesund’s previously inaccessible ferry port and connect newer parts of the map. Its inspiration reaches back to the ninth century, when settlers sailed from Norway to Iceland.

A fourth ferry offers an alternative to Route 60

Within Iceland, a ferry will cross Breiðafjörður between Stykkishólmur and Brjánslækur. The real-world route passes through an area known for its many small islands and birdlife. In the game, it will offer a way around the winding stretches of Route 60 in the island’s northwest.

Transparent water reveals more of the terrain

The Iceland DLC will also introduce transparent water to Euro Truck Simulator 2. Shallow areas will reveal rocks and terrain beneath the surface, while foam will appear in some spots, including fast-flowing rivers. SCS plans to use the effects across dozens of Iceland locations as it gradually adds transparent water to the game.

Taking a truck and trailer by ferry can cost a hefty amount, so drivers will need to account for the fare when planning a trip. Quick Travel to an Iceland garage offers a way to skip the sea crossing.
