Control Resonant will launch on PS5 on September 24 with a 60fps Performance mode, a higher-resolution Quality mode, and several features built around the DualSense controller. PS5 Pro players will get a third graphics option alongside PSSR support and ray tracing.
Remedy Entertainment detailed the sequel’s console features in a PlayStation Blog breakdown. The studio also confirmed Activities support for tracking main story progress, while Game Help will arrive after launch.
PS5 and PS5 Pro performance targets
On the standard PS5, Performance mode will target 60fps at 1440p. Quality mode will target 30fps at 2160p, giving players a choice between smoother movement and a higher resolution.
PS5 Pro will offer Performance, Quality, and Balanced modes. Performance will target 60fps at 2160p, while Quality will target 30fps at 2160p with ray tracing enabled. Balanced mode will target 40fps at 2160p with ray tracing, but it will require a 120Hz-compatible display.
All three PS5 Pro modes will use PSSR. Remedy also said it built new technology for the Northlight engine while keeping performance in mind, with responsiveness serving as a core part of the sequel’s combat design.
DualSense adds resistance to Dylan’s abilities
Adaptive triggers will give Dylan’s combat abilities different levels of resistance when activated. Barrage, which launches projectiles at enemies, and the Volatile Anomaly, a turret-like ally that can be thrown and detonated, will each provide their own tactile response.
Control Resonant will also support 3D Audio when played with a compatible headset. The combination of trigger feedback and positional sound should give combat actions a clearer physical and audio identity without changing the underlying controls.
Fast travel connects Manhattan and the Gap
Remedy’s twisted version of Manhattan will be divided into visually distinct Zones. Moving between them will be nearly instantaneous, and Dylan will be able to return to the Gap, a liminal space within his mind, whenever he chooses.
The Gap will serve as a place to unlock upgrades for Dylan and his shapeshifting weapon, the Aberrant, test builds, craft Artifacts, and handle other preparations. Activities will track progress through the main story, giving PS5 players another way to keep up with their next objective.
Control Resonant is scheduled to launch on PS5 on September 24, with the PS5 Pro options offering a wider range of choices for players with compatible displays.
