After CONTROL Resonant launched as a digital-only release on September 24, it sold 1 million copies in three weeks, reaching the mark on October 15 during a crowded PS5 release window. The same day, the game received a physical release on Xbox and PlayStation. Remedy said the milestone made it the fastest-selling game in its 31-year history and thanked players for their support.

In its latest financial report, Remedy said roughly half of the game’s players were new to the Control series. The company credited those new fans with helping sales and pointed to positive player and critic reviews on Steam and Metacritic. Remedy had scheduled its Q3 business review for November 3.
CEO Jean-Charles Gaudechon called the sales result a “very strong start” and described CONTROL Resonant as Remedy’s first self-published game of this scale, built around a series the studio owns. He said it had connected with longtime fans as well as new players, strengthening its longer-term potential. Remedy plans to build on both Control and Alan Wake.
Alan Wake 2 took about two months to reach 1 million copies. Its PC version was limited to the Epic Games Store, which may have constrained sales, so the two timelines are not a direct comparison.
Remedy had signaled strong interest before release. Its 2026 half-year report cited 1.5 million wishlists across PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, as well as top-three preorder rankings in the United States, Germany, and Brazil.
