Control Resonant’s Assist Mode Will Let Players Tune Combat in Both Directions
Players can change enemy aggression, dodge timing, damage, recovery, and more without locking trophies or achievements behind the settings.

Control Resonant will give players far more control over its combat difficulty than a simple easy, normal, or hard choice. The expanded Assist Mode will let players adjust individual mechanics, and the settings will work in both directions when the game launches on PS5 on September 24, 2026.
In a PlayStation Blog post, lead gameplay designer Sergey explained that the new combat system is built around Dylan’s shapeshifting melee weapon, the Aberrant. Close-range fights will ask players to read enemy attacks, manage staggers and status effects, and time their dodges.
Combat settings can be adjusted independently
Assist Mode lets players change specific parts of combat instead of altering the entire experience. Enemy Aggression can be lowered when attacks from several directions become overwhelming, while the Perfect Dodge Window can be widened and Enemy Projectile Speed reduced to make incoming attacks easier to read.
Damage and stagger systems can also be tuned separately. Incoming Damage, Outgoing Damage, and Outgoing Falter each have their own settings, with the last option controlling how quickly players break an enemy’s posture. Power Recovery Speed can be increased for faster access to Dylan’s supernatural abilities, while Enhanced Melee Magnetizing can make positioning during close combat more forgiving.
Players who want to focus on Manhattan and the story can also use options such as Immortality, One-Hit Kills, and One-Hit Falters. Presets will provide starting points for different play styles, and each setting can be adjusted further from there.
Assist Mode can also raise the challenge
Unlike the original Control, the sequel will let Assist Mode make combat tougher as well as easier. Players can increase enemy aggression, make the Perfect Dodge Window smaller, and raise Incoming Damage if the default experience feels too forgiving.
Assist Mode can be enabled or disabled at any point during the game. Remedy wants players to try the intended combat rhythm before changing individual rules, but nobody will be locked into those first choices. Trophies and achievements will not be gated behind Assist Mode, so players can use the settings without giving up completion rewards.
