WARDOGS Turns Its Early Access Debut Into 2 Million Sales
BULKHEAD's tactical FPS sold 1 million copies in its first 24 hours, reached 2 million within five days of its September 10 PC launch, and recorded a 428,666-player first-weekend peak, with PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions planned for 2028.

WARDOGS has sold 2 million copies within five days of entering Steam Early Access, giving BULKHEAD a major opening milestone while the tactical shooter continues to pull in a large audience. SteamDB also records a first-weekend peak of 428,666 concurrent players.
BULKHEAD and Team17 released the PC version on September 10, 2026. The official WARDOGS account announced the new sales total on September 15 while thanking players for supporting a game built for friends.
2 MILLION COPIES SOLD.

Launch sales climbed quickly. WARDOGS moved 1 million copies during its first 24 hours and reached 1.25 million copies by day two. Reaching 2 million means the game added another 750,000 sales after that earlier milestone. WARDOGS also topped Steam’s weekly active-user charts during its launch week.
BULKHEAD’s official Steam announcement adds a broader snapshot of launch-weekend activity, including in-game cash totals and other gameplay statistics. Those figures give the sales milestone more context by showing how much activity WARDOGS generated during its opening days.

SteamDB’s player records show the 428,666-player peak, which is higher than the earlier 400,196 concurrent players WARDOGS reached while BULKHEAD worked through server queues, disconnects, and anti-cheat problems. Matchmaking later stabilized, and Steam reviews currently average Very Positive.
A report from The Game Business placed the 2 million-copy result over a single weekend and described WARDOGS as a project Tencent abandoned before its Early Access release.
Momentum had been building before launch. WARDOGS reached 1 million Steam wishlists on August 14, 2026, ahead of its closed beta from August 21 through August 23. Wishlists and purchases are not directly comparable, but the earlier figure shows how much attention the game had gathered before players could buy it.
For context, BULKHEAD’s Battalion 1944 sold more than 250,000 units. WARDOGS has moved far beyond that figure in its opening days.
What players are buying into
Matches put up to 100 players across three teams in a sandbox built around tactical gunplay, vehicles, construction, and destruction. Teams fight over randomized 2-by-2-kilometer Control Zones across larger maps, with armored vehicles and destructible buildings adding more ways to attack or defend a position.
Cash gives the battles another layer. Players begin with $10,000 and can spend it on custom loadouts for each life, then earn more by reviving squadmates, transporting teammates, or controlling the objective. Rocket launchers and tanks can bring down entire apartment blocks, while construction lets teams fortify locations before the next push.
WARDOGS remains in Early Access, with BULKHEAD expecting that phase to last one to two years. The studio plans to use that time for balance work, new maps, progression, seasonal systems, and additional combat roles.
BULKHEAD has also announced PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions for 2028, giving WARDOGS a future console release after its PC Early Access start. An exact console date has not been announced.
