WARDOGS Will Reach Consoles as BULKHEAD Keeps Version 1.0 First

Joe Brammer said the studio will focus on the meta game, balance and core systems before adding large amounts of new content.

Console players will eventually get a chance to join WARDOGS, with BULKHEAD CEO Joe Brammer confirming that console versions are part of the studio’s plans. For now, though, the team is keeping its attention on the road to version 1.0 instead of changing course after the game’s enormous beta response.

BULKHEAD’s near-term work will focus on the meta game, balance and the systems that support the multiplayer experience. Players should not expect the studio to immediately pile on a huge collection of maps, weapons and other additions. The priority is to make sure the foundation can support the audience that has gathered around the shooter.

That approach gives the team room to respond to what happens when more players spend time with the finished version. Progression, balancing and other parts of the game can look very different at scale, and fixing those areas first should give future content a sturdier place to land.

The beta has already given BULKHEAD far more information than it originally expected to collect. More than 245,000 concurrent players took part at its peak, a result that went well beyond the studio’s initial projections. That audience size creates a much broader set of lessons for the team to apply as it works toward 1.0, as our coverage of the 245,000-player beta also documented.

WARDOGS is scheduled to enter Steam Early Access on September 10, 2026. BULKHEAD has not shared a release window for the console versions, but their confirmation gives console players a clear reason to keep watching the game’s progress.

Version 1.0 remains the next major target, with console plans now confirmed for the longer term. Tell us what you think in the comments, and follow us on X, Bluesky, YouTube, Instagram, Steam and Telegram.
