War Thunder Cuts the German Tempest Mk V to 4,970 Golden Eagles Through September 5

The 30% anniversary offer runs from September 2 at 11:00 GMT until September 5 at 11:00 GMT under Germany > Aviation > Premium vehicles.

War Thunder has cut the price of the German Tempest Mk V to 4,970 Golden Eagles for a limited anniversary promotion. The 30% discount runs from September 2 at 11:00 GMT until September 5 at 11:00 GMT, giving pilots a short window to purchase the unusual German-marked fighter.

Gaijin Entertainment detailed the offer in its Steam announcement. Players can find the aircraft under Germany > Aviation > Premium vehicles, and it can only be purchased while the promotion is active.

What the German Tempest Mk V brings to battle

Hawker developed five Tempest variants between 1941 and 1942 as potential successors to the Typhoon. The Mk V, powered by the Napier Sabre II engine, was the first version to be completed. It made its maiden flight on September 2, 1942, entered service in January 1944, and saw extensive use during the final years of World War II.

War Thunder’s version is based on a captured Tempest Mk V that came into Luftwaffe hands in autumn 1944 and underwent test flights in early 1945. It ranks among the fastest piston-engined aircraft in the game and carries four forward-firing 20 mm Hispano cannons, giving it the speed and firepower needed for aggressive fighter engagements.

The purchase window ends on September 5 at 11:00 GMT, so the discounted price will not remain available beyond the promotion. Anyone interested in adding the aircraft to their collection will need to use the Germany aviation premium vehicle menu before the deadline.

The German Tempest Mk V offers a brief chance to pick up a historically unusual aircraft at a lower price. Tell us what you think in the comments, and follow us on X, Bluesky, YouTube, Instagram, Steam, and Telegram.
