Armored Mewtwo will return to Pokémon GO during Pokémon GO Fest 2026: Mega Finale, appearing alongside Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y. Trainers who missed an earlier opportunity will have another chance to add the armored Legendary Pokémon to their collections.

Armored Mewtwo raid schedule
During Pokémon GO Fest 2026: Mega Finale, Armored Mewtwo will appear in five-star raids on September 5 and 6, 2026. Raids will run from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. local time on both Saturday and Sunday. Shiny Armored Mewtwo will not be available during this return.
The Pokémon was last available in 2020 as part of the Mewtwo Strikes Back – Evolution movie promotion, so this raid window will make it far less exclusive than it has been for the past several years.
The rerun is already stirring debate around Pokémon GO’s limited collectibles. One long-time player’s post called Armored Mewtwo “worth a Pidgey” and questioned the point of collecting rare Pokémon if limited encounters can eventually return. Older catches will still reflect when they were obtained, but the new raids will give many more Trainers a path to owning one.
More Mega features are coming to GO Battle League
The announcement places Mewtwo inside the game’s wider Mega Ascension rollout. Mega Evolving Mewtwo in each form unlocks that form’s additional Charged Attack and Adventure Effect for future use.
Pokémon GO is also preparing GO Battle League: Mega Edition. In the near future, Mega-Evolved Pokémon will have their CP temporarily reduced when Trainers select them for teams in the Great League and Ultra League versions of the format. They will also be able to use their additional Charged Attack during those battles.
Mega Ascension is starting for many Trainers around the world, and the announcement directs players to their Timed Research to choose which Kalos first partner Pokémon they want to encounter.
