EA Confirms Its Iron Man Game Leak and Has More to Show
The 2.5-minute work-in-progress trailer includes flight, aerial and ground combat, and a glimpse at suit customization.
An unauthorized trailer for Motive’s Iron Man game surfaced online on Friday, August 28, and EA has now confirmed that the footage is genuine. The unfinished video gives us an early look at Tony Stark flying through an apparent version of New York, fighting enemies across the ground and in the air.
The official Marvel’s Iron Man account acknowledged the leak with a surprisingly relaxed message: “Well, that didn’t go as planned. But now you know, and we’ve got a lot more to show you. See you when we’re ready.”

The confirmation also included an image of Iron Man’s armor in near darkness, with the Arc Reactor glowing at the center of the chest. Its angular shoulder design matches the armor seen in the leaked footage, further connecting the official image to the unfinished build. Together, the post and trailer provide the first verified public look at Motive’s game ahead of its official reveal.
What Motive’s Iron Man footage shows
The trailer runs for about 2.5 minutes and mixes unfinished cutscenes with gameplay. Stark flies around a large city environment, takes on enemies from above, and returns to street-level combat before approaching a S.H.I.E.L.D. helicarrier suspended in the sky. The work-in-progress clip ends with the Marvel Games logo.
Flight already looks like one of the game’s strongest features. Stark can move quickly through the air while using an arsenal that includes rockets, cluster missiles, and repulsor blasts. He is not limited to ranged attacks either. The footage shows him pummeling enemies up close, throwing them around, and bursting forward to slam one opponent into a wall.
A suit customization system also appears in the trailer, which fits a character who is always tinkering with his armor. The version of Stark shown here resembles his Marvel Cinematic Universe counterpart, although he does not appear to be modeled after Robert Downey Jr. The presentation borrows some familiar movie language too, including holographic rings around close-ups of Stark’s face.
The trailer is still an early build
Several rough edges make the footage’s development status obvious. Textures are low resolution in places, some cutscenes are unfinished, and the trailer carries the label “Aug26 Test”. It also includes placeholder text for a release window instead of a confirmed date.
Marvel’s Iron Man was announced in 2022, meaning the project has been in development for at least 4 years. The leaked build may not represent the final level of polish, but it does show a game with a clear focus on high-speed movement, flexible combat, and a heavily customizable suit. EA has not announced when the game will be released or when its planned official reveal will happen.
This is separate from Avalanche’s canceled Iron Man project, an older game that also appeared in unfinished footage. Motive’s project remains the Iron Man title EA has publicly acknowledged, and the leak has not been accompanied by any cancellation announcement.
