Mewgenics now has a page on the Xbox store, despite there being no formal announcement for an Xbox version. The listing appeared on August 22, 2026, but it does not include a release date or announcement timing.
The discovery surfaced through a Reddit post about the listing. The Xbox store page is accessible, while a separate TrueAchievements page also includes an achievement list for Mewgenics.
What the Xbox listing confirms
For now, the storefront entry confirms that Xbox-related product data for Mewgenics is already present on Microsoft’s store. Most of the listing remains locked, and the page currently shows only this basic description:
Build the ultimate cat army through tactical breeding and send them into deep, challenging turn-based adventures. Draft abilities, collect items, and manipulate genetics across generations in this roguelike tactics game from the creators of The Binding of Isaac and The End Is Nigh.
Mewgenics launched on PC through Steam on February 10, 2026. A few days later, creator Edmund McMillen confirmed that a console version was in development. The Xbox listing suggests that work has progressed, but it does not confirm when players will be able to access the game.
Mewgenics was created by Edmund McMillen and Tyler Glaiel. The game combines turn-based battles with a cat-breeding system, giving each run a constantly changing team of feline fighters.
Gamescom Could Bring More Xbox News
The timing is worth watching. Gamescom will take place later this week, and Xbox is expected to have a major presence at the event. That gives the publisher a possible stage for more information, but no Xbox release date or formal announcement has been confirmed so far.
Mewgenics’ Strong PC Launch
Mewgenics already built a large audience on PC. More than 100,000 people played within its first week, and the game passed Hades II to become the most-played roguelike by concurrent players. It reached an all-time Steam peak of 115,428 players shortly after launch.
The game also held an 88 overall score on Metacritic alongside an 8.2 user score, while more than 4,000 people were playing on Steam at the time of the Xbox listing. An Xbox version would give that audience another way to play McMillen and Tyler Glaiel‘s cat-breeding tactics game, but the next official update will have to confirm the launch window.
