Squad 10.5.3 Is Live With Fixes for Mod Crashes and Disconnects

The hotfix addresses checksum errors, PSO cache signature checks, and mismatched mod files behind crashes and server-connection problems.

Squad Hotfix 10.5.3 is now live, focusing on mod-related crashes, compatibility problems, and server disconnects.

The official Hotfix 10.5.3 patch notes explain that the game’s move to Unreal Engine 5 introduced a new storage format. Checksum errors could go undetected, leaving the game unable to recognize outdated mods. That led to “Network object failure” errors and frequent server disconnects.

A separate signature-verification bug applied the wrong rules to mods containing PSO cache files, which could also crash the game client. Hotfix 10.5.3 addresses both checksum and signature issues, bringing the affected mod systems back into a more stable state.

Squad 10.5.3 Patch Notes

For players using mods, the main changes cover crashes during startup, mismatched files between clients and servers, and a suppression-related crash. The Minimal map has also returned to its stripped-back state after test assets from earlier suppression work were left in place.

  • Fixed an issue causing crashes on game start with mods that ship precompiled shader cache
  • Fixed an issue where the game could have allowed clients to join modded servers when their mod files are different from the server
  • Fixed an issue that caused some mods to crash the game when attempting to apply suppression from explosive weapons
  • Minimal map is now reverted to it’s “minimal” state, removing the assets used for testing suppression changes before 10.5.2 update release
