War Thunder Opens Pre-Orders for the Stingray II

The U.S. Rank VI premium light tank combines a stabilized 105 mm gun and thermal imaging with a top speed of 71 km/h.

Gaijin opened pre-orders for War Thunder’s Stingray II on October 22, introducing a U.S. Rank VI premium light tank built around speed and scouting. The Steam announcement lists a stabilized 105 mm gun, DM33 ammunition, thermal imaging, and a laser rangefinder among its features.

The Stingray II can reach 71 km/h, while its thermal imager helps spot targets in different weather conditions and its rangefinder adjusts aim at long distances. Its armor is improved over the original Commando Stingray. The front can withstand fire from several small-caliber automatic cannons, but heavy machine-gun fire remains a threat to its sides. Low reverse speed is the clearest drawback, making a quick retreat to cover harder after an attack.

The Stingray II is an export-focused development of the Commando Stingray. Cadillac Gage began work on it in 1992 and built a single prototype in 1994, but the vehicle did not secure any orders.

The pack costs 59.99 and includes the tank, 15 days of Premium account time, 2,000 Golden Eagles, the “Sting like a ray” title, and the “Bluespotted ribbontail ray” decal. Steam players can access the Gaijin Store from the in-game hangar through Shop > Online Store. Gaijin describes the vehicle as the first American Rank VI premium light tank and says it can speed research through Rank VII. Its specifications may still change before it is added to the game.

Would the Stingray II’s low reverse speed affect how you’d use it as a scout? Its specifications may change before it arrives, so stay connected through X, Bluesky, YouTube, Instagram, Steam, and Telegram.
