Borderlands 4’s September 10 DLC will bring a jungle, a Siren mystery, and Loveless

Version 1.10 will raise the level cap by 10 for every player while the paid content launches in separate parts.

Borderlands 4 will receive its next major content release on September 10, when Version 1.10 launches with Story Pack 2, Bounty Pack 5, and the new Vault Hunter Loveless the Hacker. The update will also raise the maximum level by 10 for every player.

Gearbox detailed the upcoming content in its latest Steam announcement. The Gearbox DevCast episode features hosts Andrew Reiner and April Johnson speaking with Associate Art Directors Max Davenport and Chris Neeley about the new regions, enemies, missions, and gear.

Story Pack 2’s story portion, FL4K and the Last Resort, will cost $19.99 USD. The separate Loveless the Hacker Vault Hunter will cost $9.99 USD, while Bounty Pack 5 will be split into two $5.99 parts: Amara and the Vile Shadows for its repeatable mission and gear, and Vault Card 5 for its cosmetics and gameplay rewards. Regional pricing will appear on storefronts when the content launches.

The first DevCast discussion covers the broader Story Pack 2 and Bounty Pack 5 reveal.

The Providence portion of the reveal also has a separate video presentation.

Story Pack 2 sends FL4K into Providence

FL4K and the Last Resort takes Vault Hunters to Providence, a remote island where an upscale Electi vacation resort sits beside dense wilderness and an active volcano. Tediore wants the island’s Ordonite resource and has sent an expedition led by five elite managers under the command of Lieutenant Harmony.

FL4K will join the fight during specific missions as they attempt to rescue their skag companion, Mr. Chew. Providence is built around thick jungle, dramatic landmarks, and vertical routes that can be crossed with the new zipline mobility system. Players can grapple onto the lines to reach treetops, gain better firing positions, or move through the island’s elevated paths.

Tediore’s forces include soldiers in bulky exo-suits that continue fighting after their pilots are killed. The corporation has also deployed large mechs with different weapon attachments, allowing them to strengthen nearby troops and digistruct reinforcements. Taking out those support units quickly will help prevent the battlefield from filling with additional enemies.

The exo-suit concept is also featured in the official Rafa character short:

After clearing out Tediore’s infantry, machines, and managers, players will face Lieutenant Harmony inside the volcano, which Tediore has converted into a fortified base. Ordonite-infused lava can spread across the island, with falling molten rocks creating miniboss encounters as part of new world events. Providence will also contain digiverse activities where Vault Hunters upload themselves into Tediore’s servers to fight waves of enemies before they materialize in the physical world.

Story Pack 2 will add two Pearlescent weapons and 18 Legendary pieces of gear:

  • Astonisher — Ripper Shotgun
  • Quadratus — Vladof Heavy Weapon Ordnance

Amara will investigate Phase rifts in Bounty Pack 5

Amara and the Vile Shadows focuses on the unstable Phase rifts spreading across Kairos after the arrival of the Elpis moon. Amara traces the disturbances to one of Vile Lictor’s former laboratories, where dormant Order Synths remain.

The repeatable mission sends players alongside Amara to contain the rifts before they tear apart reality. The story will also revisit Elpis and the Phase dimension connected to the Sirens, giving Amara a closer look at the possibility that her own connection to the Phase has been permanently damaged.
