Wardogs will open its next free PC playtest on Friday, August 21, giving players three days to try the tactical FPS before its Steam Early Access launch. The game has already passed one million Steam wishlists, and its current release date is September 10, 2026.
The closed beta will begin on Friday, August 21 at 11am PDT / 2pm EDT / 6pm BST. It will end on Sunday, August 23 at 8pm PDT / 11pm EDT, which is Monday, August 24 at 3am BST.
Players can request access through the Wardogs Steam page by selecting Request Access. The test offers another opportunity to see how BULKHEAD’s tactical shooter handles large battles before it reaches Early Access.
Wardogs makes teamwork part of the economy
Wardogs takes a slower, more deliberate approach to large-scale military combat. Foot soldiers fight for control of key points, pilots transport teammates from headquarters into dangerous areas, and reconnaissance players can work around the edges of the battlefield while feeding information back to their team.
The game’s defining system ties every life to money. Players must purchase their loadout whenever they spawn, with firearms and ammunition drawing from the same funds. Reviving teammates, transporting passengers, and defeating opponents can all bring in cash, so the goal extends beyond winning the match: players also want to finish with a positive balance.
That economy gives support roles a direct payoff and makes equipment choices matter before each deployment. Wardogs combines class-based teamwork with infantry and vehicle combat, giving players several ways to help their side without chasing eliminations every time.
With the free test arriving on August 21 and Steam Early Access scheduled for September 10, Wardogs is moving into its next public phase after building a large audience on Steam. Anyone interested in trying the tactical FPS can submit an access request before the beta begins.
