The Alters Patch 2.2.0 Notes Cover Crashes and DLC Progression Bugs
The notes include fixes for Photo Mode screenshots, Journey lockups, resource reservations, and a new default upscaler for Steam Deck.

The Alters Patch 2.2.0 addresses a range of problems reported after the game’s DLC release, including common crash causes, progression blockers, save-loading issues, and several base-management bugs. 11 bit studios published the full details in a Steam announcement.
The update also changes the default upscaler on Steam Deck to TSR. Other fixes affect Photo Mode, Journey transitions, DLC Alter awakening, production resources, Neutralizer Tower workplaces, and object animations after returning from exploration.
Patch 2.2.0 follows the previous Patch 2.1.0 fixes, continuing the game’s post-DLC bug-fixing work without changing the focus to new content.
The Alters Patch 2.2.0 Notes
The patch’s widest fix addresses the most common causes of crashes. The remaining changes target specific situations that could interrupt a Journey, leave resources locked, hide base workplaces after loading, or affect DLC-related progression.
- Resolved the most common causes of game crashes.
- Fixed an issue where Photo Mode did not save screenshots.
- Fixed an issue where starting a Journey with an active rebellion could cause the game to become unresponsive at the beginning of the next Act.
- Fixed an issue where DLC Alters were not properly awakened from the Womb in certain scenarios.
- Fixed an issue where resources could remain permanently reserved after starting a Journey while production was still active.
- Fixed an issue where Neutralizer Tower workplaces were unavailable after loading a saved game.
- Changed the default upscaler on Steam Deck to TSR.
- Fixed an issue where base objects were not properly animated after returning from exploration.
- Fixed an issue where Miner’s arm remained visible after amputation.
These changes cover both technical stability and smaller gameplay-state problems, including the late-game situations that could leave a save in an awkward state.
