The Alters: Last Variable Earns a Golden Joystick Nomination, With Voting Open Through October 23
11 bit studios is asking players to support the expansion in the Best Game Expansion category before ballots close on October 23.
The Alters: Last Variable has been nominated for Best Game Expansion at the Golden Joystick Awards 2026, giving 11 bit studios’ latest chapter a place among this year’s player-voted honors.
11 bit studios shared the nomination in a Steam announcement and asked players to support the expansion before voting closes on October 23. Ballots are available through the Golden Joystick Awards voting page, with Last Variable competing specifically for Best Game Expansion.
Last Variable arrived on July 13 and sent Jan Scientist into a new mystery surrounding an impossible Oasis. The expansion added scientific Alters such as the Geologist, Biologist, Chemist, and Physicist, along with new environmental hazards, base systems, Field Labs, and the Cryosleep Chamber.
Voting for most categories remains open through October 23. The winners will be announced during the Golden Joystick Awards ceremony in London on November 11, while Ultimate Game of the Year will have a separate voting window from October 26 through October 30.
