Modern Warfare 4 Intel Roundup Covers the Beta, DMZ, and Kill Block
The upcoming shooter will launch on October 23, while Campaign Early Access starts October 16 and the first beta weekend begins August 21.

Activision and Infinity Ward’s official Forward Operating Blog currently brings together the main announcements, videos, and development updates for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. The newest beta preview points to 6v6 Multiplayer, Ground War, Kill Block, and a Campaign segment, while older entries fill in the game’s DMZ mode, launch plans, preorder content, and story setup.
The first beta weekend will feature more than 6v6 matches
The first beta weekend is scheduled for August 21–25, 2026, followed by an open beta from August 28 through September 1. The first session will use early access, while the second will be open to all players. Separate beta details also confirm an Entrenched Campaign mission, seven Multiplayer maps, and an early look at Call of Duty: Warzone content in addition to the regular Multiplayer test.
The open beta will also support Nintendo Switch 2. Players can find the full early-access and open-beta breakdown in the Modern Warfare 4 beta schedule, while Call of Duty: NEXT is planned to provide more information before the test begins.
The official beta preview is accompanied by footage showing the broader scope of Weekend One.
Kill Block is the main Multiplayer focus
Infinity Ward’s latest Kill Block material comes from Fanatics Fest, where players saw an Alpha build of the mode and shared their first reactions. Kill Block is presented as a Multiplayer experience built around combat spaces that can change from one match to the next.
A July video also frames the mode around three creators, three slabs, and a map designed to play differently across matches.
The hub’s Campaign preview focuses on Losing Ground, an Early Access mission from the upcoming story.
Another entry covers the beta rollout, Call of Duty: NEXT, the Fanatics Fest recap, Nintendo Switch 2 preorder details, and a Serialized Weapon Camo preorder challenge. The game’s broader campaign direction will move between North Korea, South Korea, and Captain Price’s rogue unit while balancing large-scale war missions with smaller tactical operations, as detailed in the Modern Warfare 4 campaign overview.
The Kill Block hype video adds a quick promotional look at the mode.
Infinity Ward has shown the game’s weapons, vehicles, and DMZ
Modern Warfare 4 will also include the Dreadnought, a drivable vehicle designed by Aston Martin. The official material presents it as a heavy machine built for surviving the circle and controlling fights.
Infinity Ward’s fifth From The Ward episode looks at the process behind the game’s weapon design.
The separate Kill Block briefing expands on the mode’s changing combat spaces and its place within Modern Warfare 4’s Multiplayer lineup.
Campaign Early Access will begin on October 16, 2026, one week before the full release. The story follows the conflict that erupts after North Korea launches a full-scale invasion of the Korean Peninsula, with Price operating outside the system as the campaign moves toward a new status quo for the series.
DMZ takes place in the Hajin Exclusion Zone, a combat area shaped by the aftermath of the Campaign. Its structure combines Story Missions, Dynamic Operations, player-driven encounters, and progression that carries from one deployment to the next, with escalation remaining a constant threat.
Infinity Ward’s fourth From The Ward episode examines the work behind the game’s sound design, including the process of turning real-world explosions into the audio heard in Modern Warfare 4.
A behind-the-scenes feature also covers the creation of the game’s key art and the filmmakers, actors, creators, and artists involved in presenting its world.
