Becastled’s Traits and Some Magic DLC Adds Risky Traits and New Battlefield Roles
More than 40 traits can reshape an army, while Mages deal area damage and Clerics help keep units alive.

Becastled‘s Traits and Some Magic DLC gives players more than 40 traits to draw from, but the strongest options can come with costs. Rather than repeating one dependable build, players will need to adjust their army and settlement to the choices each run presents. The DLC is available now.
The design goal, outlined in Xbox Wire’s feature on Traits and Some Magic, is to make players react to each run instead of leaning on the same strategy every time. A trait choice appears every few days and after a Blood Moon. Options fall into Common, Uncommon, and Rare tiers, with rarer choices more likely after a Blood Moon.
Some traits offer straightforward benefits, such as stronger unit health or an economic boost. Others trade one advantage for a restriction. Master of the Bow limits the army to archers in exchange for increased damage. Manifest Destiny lowers mood but lets players claim several upcoming zones for free, while Glass Cannon cuts unit health to raise damage. Combined with Blood Money and Master of the Bow, Glass Cannon can help create a hard-hitting archer force, though the run may leave players without walls or push them toward unusually durable units instead.

Mages and Clerics change the battlefield
The DLC also adds Mages and Clerics, both recruited from a new Mage School. Mages are fragile, but their area attacks can hit groups of enemies hard. Keeping them behind other soldiers or positioning them on walls can help protect them while they attack.

Clerics bring healing rather than damage, giving players another way to keep troops alive during difficult fights, including boss battles. They can work well alongside Swordsmen, but remain vulnerable to enemy archers and other units if left exposed. Their placement matters as much as the extra healing they provide.
