Once Human’s Fashion Dye Rework Will Cut Full-Set Costs by 60%

The August 24 update will switch billing from individual sections to clothing components and refund 60% of currency spent under the old system.

Once Human players will have a cheaper and less tedious way to customize Fashion sets when the planned August 24 update arrives. Starry Studio outlined the changes in a Steam dev blog, including new component-based billing, lower prices, and refunds for earlier dye purchases.

The Fashion set dye feature launched on July 9 PT, but the original design charged players separately for every dyeable section. Since some outfits contain more than a dozen sections, changing an entire set could require a long series of individual actions. Small sections could also cost as much as larger ones, even when their visual impact was barely noticeable.

How the August 24 dye changes will work

After the update, charges will apply to each clothing component instead of each individual section. Players will still be able to adjust every section inside that component, mix several colors on the same top or other item, and change detail sections without paying for each one separately.

The color-tier rules will remain the same. The charge for a component will use the highest color tier selected within it, while mixing different colors will still be supported.

New prices for Fashion components

Starry Studio also plans to reduce the cost of dyeing. Based on the announcement’s six-part full-set estimate, the new total will be 900 Colorful Badges for basic colors, 720 Crystgin for advanced colors, or 1,440 Crystgin for rare colors. The previous estimates for 15 sections were 2,250 Colorful Badges, 1,800 Crystgin, and 3,600 Crystgin, respectively.

Component Basic colors
(Colorful Badges)
Advanced colors
(Crystgin)
Rare colors
(Crystgin)
Tops 300 240 480
Bottoms 300 240 480
Shoes 75 60 120
Gloves 75 60 120
Headwear 75 60 120
Eyewear 75 60 120
Facewear 75 60 120

The developer estimates that the full-set price will be about 60% lower than before across all three color tiers. The exact component prices above will apply once the August 24 update is live.

More dyeable sets are planned for September

Only a limited selection of Fashion sets currently supports custom dyeing. Starry Studio plans to gradually add more dyeable sets in the September update, including items from additional rarities.

The upcoming changes follow other recent work on the system, including a July 14 fix for Fashion dye saving problems. The August overhaul focuses on how the feature operates and how much its currency costs.

Players who already dyed items will receive refunds

Players who spent currency on dyeing before August 24 will keep their current dye effects. Once the update arrives, the game will automatically send a refund through in-game mail within three business days.

Because the old and new systems calculate costs differently, the refund will use a flat rate of 60% of the currency spent. For example, a player who used 7,200 Crystgins and 2,250 Colorful Badges before the update will receive 4,320 Crystgins and 1,350 Colorful Badges.

Players with questions about their compensation can contact in-game Customer Service. Starry Studio also directed feedback to the Once Human Feedback Platform.
