Counter-Strike 2’s EWC 2026 Tournament Will Run From Four Groups to a Paris Final

The 32-team event will feature a $2 million player prize pool, with the Grand Final scheduled for August 23 at Paris' Accor Arena.

Counter-Strike 2 will take over the Esports World Cup from August 12 through August 23, 2026, bringing 32 teams together for a $2 million tournament in Paris. The group stage will run from August 12-16 before the playoffs begin on August 19.

The field was completed after BIG, 100 Thieves, JiJieHao, and K27 came through the Last Chance Qualifiers. Those four teams joined 27 VRS invites and Lynn Vision, which qualified through the Asian Champions League.

Schedule and format for EWC 2026 CS2

The opening stage will divide the field into four groups of eight. Each group will use a GSL-style, double-elimination format, giving teams room to recover from one loss while still punishing a second stumble.

  • Group stage: August 12-16
  • Playoffs: August 19-23
  • Group format: Four eight-team double-elimination groups
  • Advancement: The top four teams from each group will reach the playoffs
  • Group-stage matches: Best of 3

The playoffs will move to a 16-team single-elimination bracket. Every playoff match will be a Best of 3 except for the Best of 5 Grand Final, and the event will also include a third-place match.

Prize pool and Paris venues

The tournament will offer $2,000,000 in player prize money, with $600,000 going to the champion. Organizations will also have Club Championship incentives tied to their performances at the Esports World Cup.

Most of the competition will take place at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles, the main EWC 2026 venue. The final will then move to the Accor Arena in Paris on August 23, giving the closing match a larger setting than the earlier rounds.

Where to watch the EWC CS2 tournament

The Esports World Cup broadcast will run across the event’s official video channels and DAZN. The EWC homepage provides the central event information, while the organization’s YouTube streams will carry the tournament.

For the playoff stage, viewers can use the EWC stc Arena Twitch channel. The channel name is tied to the stage being played, so playoff viewers should look for the stc Arena broadcast rather than a general event feed.

Early favorites and the race for the title

Team Falcons enter the event as the clearest pre-tournament pick after winning the IEM Cologne 2026 Major. The organization has also placed special emphasis on the Esports World Cup, which gives its roster another reason to arrive ready from the opening series.

Vitality, Spirit, and FURIA sit alongside Falcons among the leading contenders. Vitality’s connection to the Accor Arena adds another layer to the final, since the organization won its first Major there in 2023. The event will also be the roster’s last competition as a five for a while, with jL later expected to stand in for mezii at BLAST Porto and then for apEX at PGL Masters Bucharest.

MOUZ deserves attention after making an impressive run to the BLAST Bounty 2026 Season 2 trophy. Spirit, meanwhile, struggled to maintain its best level as that tournament progressed, particularly on the T side. A fully LAN-based event could produce a different result from the online upsets that affected several teams earlier in the season.

The tournament could also change the direction of the season for teams outside the favorite group. NIP, 100 Thieves, TYLOO, BIG, and GamerLegion would all benefit from a deep run, even if lifting the trophy is a tougher task. Strong results would improve their VRS position and help their path toward qualification for the PGL Singapore Major.

Pre-event prediction: Team Falcons to win the Esports World Cup 2026 Counter-Strike 2 tournament.

Counter-Strike 2

Counter-Strike 2 is a free-to-play multiplayer tactical first-person shooter developed and published by Valve. Released in September 2023, it is the fifth main entry in the Counter-Strike series and serves as a direct replacement for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive on Steam. Two teams, Terrorists and Counter-Terrorists, compete in objective-based rounds across modes such as bomb defusal and hostage rescue. Built on the Source 2 engine, the game introduced volumetric smoke physics, revised weapon handling, and a new sub-tick server architecture. It inherited all cosmetic items from its predecessor and features both a map-specific Competitive mode and a numerically ranked Premier mode.
