Just Dance: Decades of Hits is available now on Xbox Series X|S, pairing songs from six decades with choreography, costumes, and visuals tailored to each era. Local sessions support up to six players using phones as controllers, while solo dancers can follow Adventure Mode, a story that sends Dr. Gigavolt’s daughter Lyra across six themed worlds to rescue him.
The soundtrack runs from the ’70s to the present, with songs including ABBA’s “Mamma Mia,” Billy Joel’s “Uptown Girl,” the Spice Girls’ “Wannabe,” Britney Spears’ “Stronger,” DJ Snake & Lil Jon’s “Turn Down for What,” and Chappell Roan’s “HOT TO GO!”

In an Xbox Wire interview, choreography director Estelle Manas explained how the game uses movement to give each period its own character. She described the ’70s as favoring simple steps that leave room for personal flair, while ’80s dance became more closely tied to pop and hip-hop through music videos, television, and concerts.
Later styles draw on a wider mix of influences, including Dancehall, K-Pop, New Style, and Street Jazz. Each era also gets its own aesthetic and costumes, with choreography shaped by research into older music videos and TV shows.
Manas said the routines are designed to be approachable across ages and skill levels, with difficulty options ranging from intermediate to extreme. Seated choreographies also give players with limited mobility a way to join in, alongside the game’s range of characters, worlds, and dance styles.
One map features five coaches for the first time. Manas picked “Wannabe” as the song she was especially keen for players to experience, citing the choreography’s take on each Spice Girl’s character and energy.
