Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 will begin on Thursday, August 20, 2026. Epic Games announced the upcoming season’s name and date in an August 5 X post, giving players a confirmed date for the next major content change.
Chapter 7 Season 3 will end on August 19, ahead of the launch. The Unstable live event is scheduled for August 15 and will bring the current Runners storyline to a conclusion. Players who still have unfinished Season 3 challenges should complete them before Override launches, as those challenges will no longer be available afterward.
Fortnite Override downtime estimates
The following times are estimates based on earlier Fortnite updates, not a final schedule from Epic Games. The developer has not announced an exact launch hour or the length of the downtime, and it may provide more precise timing before August 20.
The v42.00 update will be deployed during the maintenance window, and players will not be able to log in until the servers return. Comparable updates have often taken roughly two to four hours, but that estimate is not confirmed for Override.

What Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 may include
Override is planned as the last full-length season of Chapter 7. A shorter season may follow to close out the chapter, although Epic Games has not confirmed that plan.
Leaks point to a lineup of gaming crossovers involving Sonic, Pac-Man, Persona, Mega Man, Tetris, and Kingdom Hearts. Those details remain unconfirmed, so the final selection of collaborations may differ when Epic Games shares more information.
The season is also expected to bring a new Battle Pass, map changes, weapons, and items. The Sprite system from Chapter 7 Season 3 may continue as well, potentially giving players more creatures to find, according to a separate report on the Sprite system.
Based on the usual Fortnite season length, Override could run for roughly 10 to 12 weeks. Epic Games has not announced an end date, so that window should be treated as an estimate rather than a confirmed schedule.
