Fortnitemares 2026 Will Begin Oct. 1 as Epic Teases a Haunted Crossover Lineup

Fortnitemares 2026 will begin in Fortnite on Thursday, October 1, bringing the annual Halloween event back to the island with quests, free cosmetics, spooky decorations, and a long list of teased or rumored collaborations.

The event is scheduled to start at the weekly reset, 9 a.m. ET / 6 a.m. PT. Past Fortnitemares events have generally lasted three to four weeks, so the 2026 edition could run until around October 29. Epic Games has not announced a firm end date, although the event is expected to fill a month-long Halloween window before Fortnite moves into Chapter 7’s final season in November.

Epic’s Fortnitemares teaser points to a packed crossover season

Epic Games released a 12-second teaser carrying the tagline “The game is cursed.” The clip appears to point toward several horror-themed collaborations, although the company has not confirmed the full lineup.

Epic’s official Fortnite account later posted “IT’S ME! See you October 1” while tagging @fnaf_scottgames, directly teasing a Five Nights at Freddy’s connection for the event.

The post confirms the timing and FNAF connection, but not what players will receive. Epic has not revealed whether the crossover will include an outfit, an Item Shop release, an in-game appearance, or other content. A separate Rocket League leak also connected FNAF to the event.

Other widely discussed possibilities include Obsession, Chucky, Freddy Krueger, The Exorcist, and Pennywise. A separate report attributed more than a dozen planned collaborations to the event, but the status of many names remains uncertain.

Fortnitemares artwork adds weight to several crossover teases

New Fortnitemares key art gives several previously discussed names a stronger visual connection to the event. Freddy Krueger occupies a prominent position, with Slenderman appearing behind him. The opposite side includes imagery that appears to reference The Purge, while Black Clover can also be identified among the crossover material.

A Beetlejuice gravestone appears behind Jonesy, adding another recognizable name to the lineup. The artwork strengthens the connection between these properties and Fortnitemares, but it does not explain how each one will appear in-game.

Fortnitemares 2026 collaboration rumors and teases

The current list mixes direct teases, claims from Fortnite dataminers, a wrestler confirmation, and leaks connected to Rocket League. Dataminer reports and leaks should not be treated as official announcements until Epic confirms them.

Vampire Sprite and Pumpkin Sprite will join the loot pool

Fortnitemares will also add the Vampire Sprite and Pumpkin Sprite to the loot pool when the event begins. They will add new seasonal options to Fortnite alongside the crossover content.

Earlier Fortnitemares collaborations, including Saw, Friday the 13th, and Poppy’s Playtime, could also return to the Item Shop, although those returns remain unconfirmed.

Quests and free rewards remain unknown

Epic has not detailed the Fortnitemares 2026 quests, island decorations, or free reward requirements. The annual event usually offers several free items, including a character skin. Last year’s event awarded the Pig the Butcher skin after players gained 15 account levels, but that requirement does not confirm how rewards will work in 2026.

More information should arrive as the October 1 launch approaches. Until then, the start date is confirmed while the collaboration list remains a mixture of official teases, third-party claims, and unconfirmed leaks.
