War Thunder’s Advance Mode Runs Through August 3 With Higher Battle Ratings

The returning Realistic Battles event features revised nation matchups and ground vehicles rated from 9.7 to 10.7.

War Thunder’s Advance mode is returning with a higher Battle Rating range and revised nation matchups. Gaijin Entertainment said the changes follow positive feedback from the previous test, with the new event scheduled to run from July 31 at 11:00 GMT through August 3 at 11:00 GMT.

Players can find Advance in the game’s Events and Tournaments tab. The updated event is available in Realistic Battles on Port Novorossiysk, Maginot Line, and Volokolamsk. Gaijin detailed the changes in its Steam announcement.

How Advance mode works

Advance turns each match into a sequential push across the map. Every capture point belongs to the defending team when it activates, and only one point is active at a time. Once attackers take it, the next objective opens.

  • A, C, and E are small key points that take longer to capture.
  • B and D are larger intermediate points that cover the defenders’ previous spawn area and fall faster.
  • Capturing an intermediate point opens a new spawn point for the attacking team, while the earlier spawn point is disabled.
  • Attackers win by capturing the final key point, E, or eliminating every defender.
  • Defenders win by holding the objectives until the mission ends or eliminating all attackers.

The two sides do not have identical team sizes or spawn limits. Ground vehicles do not require Spawn Points to enter the battle, while aircraft do. Players can also spawn repeatedly without needing a backup vehicle.

Higher Battle Ratings and updated matchups

This version of Advance supports ground vehicles with Battle Ratings from 9.7 through 10.7. Gaijin also changed the nation matchups to improve balance, although the announcement does not provide a full matchup breakdown.

The event gives the previous test’s capture-point tug-of-war a broader vehicle range, with the alternating key and intermediate objectives creating different pressure points for both teams.
