The First Descendant is resetting its skin contest finals after AI concerns
Nexon said the re-vote window will be announced later, and only Mastery Rank 10 or higher accounts can take part.

In a Steam notice on Tuesday, Nexon said The First Descendant’s 2026 Skin Contest finals will be re-voted after it found that some finalist entries appear to have used generative AI.
The move follows the start of finals voting on July 6, as outlined in the earlier voting notice. Nexon said AI-made entries will not be allowed to receive votes and will also be removed from the rewards pool for finalists.
The company apologized for missing the issue during finalist review and said the voting status will be reset so the contest can move forward in a fairer way. The finals voting page was temporarily restricted on July 7, 2026 at 00:00 PDT while Nexon prepares the reset, and the new re-voting window will be shared once it is finalized.
When voting opens again, players will still be limited to two votes total, with one vote for a Descendant entry and one vote for a Vehicle entry. Nexon also said only accounts with Mastery Rank 10 or higher can participate, and votes cannot be changed or canceled after submission.
The publisher added that if more questionable entries turn up during the voting period, they will be removed from the running and invalidated. Once voting ends, Nexon plans to review the original files for both the finalists and the winning entries more closely.
