Xbox confirms how long the Gears of War: E-Day Direct will run
Matt Booty said the June 7 presentation will run for about 30 minutes and will follow the Xbox showcase that same day.

Xbox has confirmed the runtime for the Gears of War: E-Day Direct, and the presentation will run for about 30 minutes when it airs on June 7.
Matt Booty, Xbox’s Chief Content Officer, made the comment during the official Xbox podcast, where he said the Direct would follow the Xbox showcase that is also planned for that day. For more on the broader event, see our look at Xbox’s June showcase plans.
The timing lines up with Microsoft’s earlier confirmation that the Gears presentation would come immediately after the main Xbox broadcast. That means the day should give fans a longer look at Microsoft’s slate before handing off to E-Day for its own spotlight.
Booty also said he was excited about the work coming out of the studio behind the game and made it clear the Direct is meant to be a full, dedicated segment rather than a quick trailer drop.
As for the game itself, Gears of War: E-Day was first announced during the 2024 Xbox Showcase with a cinematic trailer, and no real gameplay footage has been shown since 2024. Xbox still has the game listed for release sometime in 2026.
Booty also discussed his recent promotion to Xbox CCO and said the title reflects the work of Xbox’s studios rather than changing his day-to-day role. He added that the label is a sign that Microsoft takes its teams and the games they make seriously.
