PlayStation has started releasing system software update 25.06-12.02.00.00-00.00.00.0.1 for PS5 on October 1, 2025. The update is minor, and PlayStation says it addresses security fixes to the system software.
This is not a feature update, so don’t expect new options or visible changes. The PS4 also received a security update today, suggesting that the fixes apply to both platforms.

For now, this new build appears focused on internal protections rather than user-facing changes. If you have a PS5, the update should install automatically when the console checks for system software, or you can apply it manually from the system settings. If anything else important turns up after people install it, we will update the details.
