Xbox still isn’t saying when it will settle the exclusivity question
Asha Sharma said Microsoft will take a data-driven look at exclusivity, but she would not give a timeline for when the company will decide what happens next on PS5.

Xbox’s next move on exclusivity is still not pinned down. Incoming CEO Asha Sharma said Microsoft will keep weighing the issue before it commits to a broader answer about PS5 support, and she did not give a date for when that decision will arrive.
Speaking with Stephen Totilo for GameFile, Sharma said, “We’ll take a data-driven approach and a strategic-driven approach, and then we’ll look at our principles and we’ll make some calls. So we’ll share more when we’re ready.”
When pressed for timing, Sharma said she did not want to rush decisions that could shape the business for years and said she was not ready to lock in a specific window. She also noted that she has only been in the job for around 60 days.
The comments come after Sharma said earlier this week that Xbox is “re-evaluating” its exclusivity strategy. The message itself is not hard to read. Microsoft is still adjusting its long-term plans, but it is not ready to spell out exactly how that affects future releases on Sony’s console.
That uncertainty sits alongside Microsoft’s broader platform stance. Satya Nadella has repeated that the company plans to be “everywhere, on every platform,” and Halo Studios said more than six months ago that Master Chief would be on PS5 going forward.
For now, the company’s answer is basically the same one it has been giving lately. The decision is coming, but not yet.
