Xbox PC App Reveals the Mythic Achievement Badge and Its 16-Second Unlock Sound

The badge has a green laurel design and a 16-second unlock sound, while Xbox has not explained how previously released games will qualify.

Xbox’s Mythic Achievement system now has more than a mysterious name attached to it. An update to the Xbox PC app exposed a green badge and a 16-second unlock sound for the award, although the feature itself has not launched and Xbox has not formally explained its rollout.

Klobrille shared the discovery on X. The Mythic badge appears as a green emblem with a pale four-pointed star framed by a laurel wreath, while the associated unlock audio runs for 16 seconds.

Before those app details surfaced, a Mythic Achievement category appeared on the account of Raymond Cox, better known online as Stallion83. Cox, recognized as the world’s first Gamerscore millionaire, reacted to the discovery on September 19 by writing, “Can’t wait to get my first myth.”

Xbox CEO Asha Sharma previously said platinum-style Achievements were coming in 2026. That statement gives the new badge and sound a clear connection to Xbox’s announced plans, but the company has not confirmed whether Mythic Achievements are active on any broader scale or whether the name is final.

What a Mythic Achievement could track

Xbox’s Mythic Achievement is meant to trigger after a player unlocks every other achievement in a supported game, making it a platform equivalent to PlayStation’s Platinum Trophy. The award would give completionists a single marker for a full clear instead of asking them to rely only on their total Gamerscore.

Retroactivity remains one of the biggest open questions. Previously released games may receive Mythic Achievements automatically, or individual titles may require updates from their developers before they qualify. Xbox has not explained which approach it will use.

Gears of War: E-Day could become an early test for the system when it launches on October 6. The game already has 55 achievements worth 1,000 Gamerscore, covering its campaign, Horde Siege, Versus, collectibles, and high-difficulty challenges, as detailed in the Gears of War: E-Day achievement list.

Would a 16-second unlock sound make a full completion feel more satisfying, and should Mythic Achievements apply retroactively to older games? Share your preference in the comments, then follow us on X, Bluesky, YouTube, Instagram, Steam, and Telegram.
