Xbox Game Pass May Offer Multiplayer and Cloud Gaming as Separate Add-Ons

A proposed add-on system could sit alongside existing tiers, letting subscribers pay separately for selected features, but Microsoft has not announced it.

Xbox Game Pass may add separate monthly options for console-only games, cloud gaming, and multiplayer alongside its existing tiers. Subscribers could start with a lower-priced plan and add only the features they want, rather than paying for a bundle that includes them all.

The idea surfaced in an October 20 conversation with Xbox CEO Asha Sharma. Microsoft has not announced the plan, and add-on prices have not been established, so any savings would depend on the fees and what the base plan includes.

Game Pass has recently seen price adjustments and gained a cloud gaming tier. Earlier in 2026, a pick-your-plan option was also under consideration, with possible ways to lower a subscription price by removing Xbox Cloud Gaming or Fortnite Crew, or by adding other services.

If Xbox offers these choices, which Game Pass feature would you rather pay for separately? Follow updates on the service’s possible pricing and plan changes through X, Bluesky, YouTube, Instagram, Steam, and Telegram.
