Windrose players may be waiting a while for Ashlands
Kraken Express said it will spend the next few weeks on fixes before switching to Ashlands, which it expects to take at least six months to finish.

Windrose players hoping for a faster drip of new content are going to be waiting a bit. Kraken Express said the game’s next major update, which will add the Ashlands biome, will not arrive for at least six months after the studio finishes a round of fixes.
The developer said those short-term improvements will cover performance and stability work, network issues, CPU use on idle clients and servers, plus a set of quality-of-life changes. Once that work is done, Kraken Express plans to move on to the next content push and turn its focus to Ashlands.
The studio described the update as a big one, saying its scope is ambitious and that a smaller series of additions would not have the same impact. In a message shared on Discord, the team asked players to “Please have faith in us once again,” and said it wants to build something worth the wait. Kraken Express also said Windrose is expected to stay in early access for 1.5 to 2.5 years, and that the current build contains about half of what the full game will eventually offer, with more biomes, bosses, enemies, ships, and loot planned. A roadmap has not been released yet, but the studio said more information should arrive in a month or two.
Kraken Express also pointed players to a dedicated support page for bug reports and feature requests.
