WARDOGS will run Closed Beta 02 after The FPS Games Show on September 3, 2026. The announcement does not include a start date or end time for the second test, but the team described it as another large-scale test for the PC tactical shooter.
Pre-order customers will have guaranteed access. Other players will receive Steam Playtest invitations in waves, rather than entering an open beta with unrestricted access.
What Closed Beta 02 will test
The staged rollout is meant to expose problems that only appear when the player count rises. The team specifically named server scaling and browsing, Twitch Drops, DLC entitlements, VOIP, and the login queue as areas it wants to test.
That focus gives the beta a job beyond simply letting players try WARDOGS again. The team wants participants to put pressure on the systems supporting the game, including the services that handle access, content ownership, communication, and large player loads.
The FPS Games Show still has another reveal
Announcing the beta ahead of the broadcast means one planned reveal is no longer being saved for the show. However, the team said The FPS Games Show will still feature a separate major announcement and has not disclosed what it will be.
The FPS Games Show is scheduled for September 3, 2026, at 18:00 UTC, 2 p.m. EDT, or 7 p.m. BST, with the broadcast planned for Twitch. WARDOGS is also scheduled to enter Steam Early Access on September 10, according to the previously announced launch schedule.
