War Thunder’s Leopard 2A8 Will Bring Trophy APS to Germany and Sweden
The Rank VIII tank will have six Trophy charges and an unlockable DM53 round, with Sweden receiving a Norwegian Army configuration.

War Thunder’s Eagle’s Shadow update will add the Leopard 2A8 to Germany and Sweden at Rank VIII. Sweden’s version will use a configuration built for the Norwegian Army, according to Gaijin’s Steam announcement. On October 29, Gaijin introduced Eagle’s Shadow with a trailer but gave no feature rundown or release date in the trailer announcement.
The tank’s Trophy active protection system will alert players to incoming missiles and automatically launch countermeasure projectiles to intercept them. Six charges positioned around the turret will provide coverage against anti-tank guided missiles fired from the ground or from aircraft.
The Leopard 2A8 will also have extra frontal hull armor, composite side armor modules, an internal spall liner and Gen 3 thermal imagers. Its stock APFSDS round will be followed by the unlockable DM53 APFSDS. Gaijin says the tank will be less mobile than the Leopard 2A4 and 2A5, trading some agility for its added protection.
Eagle’s Shadow is also due to include dev-server tests of three tracked-vehicle steering systems. Gaijin cautions that the Leopard 2A8’s specifications may change before it enters the game.
