War Thunder Update 2.59.0.28 Removes Remote Detonation From Several Aircraft Rockets
The patch also fixes a missing Mosquito cannon in X-ray view and corrects active-radar missile launch feedback.

War Thunder Update 2.59.0.28 disables remote detonation for unguided aircraft rockets that did not have the capability in real life. The small patch also fixes aircraft models, active-radar missile feedback, carrier landing behavior, and missing grass on Ardennes. Gaijin Entertainment published the Update 2.59.0.28 notes on Steam on September 23, 2026. This patch follows War Thunder Update 2.59.0.22, which addressed a broader set of aircraft, overpressure, missile, and interface issues in Update 2.59.0.22.
The rocket change affects FFAR, Hydra 70, S-8, S-24, S-25, Nasser 240, Pampero, PRN-122, R4M, Wfr.Gr.21, RZ.65, S-1of, CRV7, Type 3, Type 5, and Yasser rockets. S-24 and S-25 are covered across all variants.
Mosquito pilots also receive a visual correction. The UK, Swedish, ASH, FB.Mk.26, and TR.Mk.33 versions now show all four 20 mm cannons in the X-ray view. Active radar homing missile launches receive a separate interface fix, restoring the radar circle that indicates when target illumination is required before the missile seeker locks on.
Two smaller corrections round out the update. Aircraft that land on an enemy aircraft carrier can once again trigger the automatic surrender mechanic, while Ardennes has had its missing grass restored in affected areas.
War Thunder Update 2.59.0.28 Patch Notes
The notes cover aircraft weapons and damage-view details, missile interface feedback, landing behavior, and a terrain issue on Ardennes. The official items are reproduced below in their original order.
Aircraft
- Mosquito FB Mk VI (UK), Mosquito FB Mk VI (Sweden), Mosquito FB Mk VI ASH, Mosquito FB.Mk.26, Mosquito TR.Mk.33 — an issue where one of the four 20 mm cannons was missing from the X-ray view has been fixed. (Report).
- FFAR, Hydra 70, S-8, S-24 (all variants), S-25 (all variants), Nasser 240, Pampero, PRN-122, R4M, Wfr.Gr.21, RZ.65, S-1of, CRV7, Type 3, Type 5, Yasser — with the release of the Sky Odyssey major update, the remote detonation capability has been disabled for unguided aircraft rockets that did not possess this feature in real life.
Interface
- An issue where, during the launch of missiles with active radar homing (ARH) seekers, the radar display failed to show the circle indicating the need for target illumination until the missile’s seeker achieved lock-on has been fixed.
Locations and Missions
- A bug that prevented the surrender mechanic (automatically leaving the aircraft) after landing on an enemy aircraft carrier from working has been fixed.
- Ardennes — a bug that caused the lack of grass in some places has been fixed.
Patch notes reflect only key changes, meaning they may not include a complete list of all improvements made. Additionally, War Thunder is constantly being updated and some changes may not require an update. Changes reflected in patch notes are formed by taking reactions and requests of the community from the bug reporting service, forums and other official platforms into account. Bug fixes and changes are implemented in order of importance, for example a game-breaking bug will be worked on and implemented sooner.
