Vandiril Criticizes League of Legends Replay Restrictions
Patch 26.20 keeps client downloads for participants but blocks other players and third-party services from downloading those matches.

Vandiril criticized League of Legends’ replay restrictions, calling them a loss for creators who break down high-ranked matches. Coaches and Challenger replay channels are also affected because they rely on matches they did not play in to review top-level play.
Okay, this sucks SOOOO MUCH…
Massive loss for the game and a huge middle finger to a lot of content creators. pic.twitter.com/BTf6NOVZ5f

Under Patch 26.20’s replay restrictions, players can still download matches they took part in, but other players cannot download those replays. Third-party apps and sites also lose access to replay downloads. Coaches and replay-focused channels will have fewer ways to study high-ranked decisions, learn how champions are played, or revisit standout moments after a match ends. They will have to rely more on live streams or recordings players choose to share directly.
Riot says the limits accompany tighter restrictions on third-party access to game memory. The company says those measures address security vulnerabilities exploited to build unauthorized tools using League data, as explained in its game-memory security support article.
