Valheim Hotfixes Repair Deep North Armor and Add an Opt-In for Steam Achievements
Patch 1.0.10 also corrects Deep North snow and Greydwarf Shaman behavior, while Steam's 1.0.12 build fixes Forge of Potential recipes and item stand issues.

Valheim has two hotfixes addressing problems that surfaced after the 1.0 launch. Patch 1.0.10 covers all platforms with a repair fix for Deep North heavy armor, while patch 1.0.12 is currently limited to Steam and adds an opt-in for achievements after devcommands or mods have disabled them. Iron Gate outlined the changes in its Steam announcement on Sept. 11, 2026. The broader launch also brought Valheim’s redesigned save system, which splits world data across chunks to reduce write times.
The timing follows Valheim’s Sept. 9 full release, which opened the Deep North alongside new enemies, crafting options, building pieces, and other systems. Players can now repair the endgame heavy armor introduced with that content. Deep North Greydwarf Shamans also have corrected damage and healing values, while several sound effects have been updated for creatures and the snowy biome.
Snow behavior receives a pair of specific adjustments. Punching no longer clears snow, but landing on snow without directly walking on it now removes the layer. The difference should make building and moving through the Deep North feel less unpredictable.
Steam receives extra fixes in patch 1.0.12
Steam’s additional fixes address both progression and technical problems. The Forge of Potential no longer unlocks recipes that should remain locked, and a crash tied to entering an unloaded zone has been fixed. Banlists and whitelists should also work with older Steam IDs, not only newer IDs such as V_123456789.
Players who previously used devcommands or mods can opt back into achievements with the new command yesiuseddevcommandsbutiwantmyachievementsanyway. A popup now explains when achievements can be received again. Iron Gate says these Steam fixes are crossplay-compatible and will reach other platforms in an upcoming hotfix.
One item stand fix comes with an important warning. If a world has not yet been loaded in the 1.0 update, items on armor stands and item stands should keep their durability and upgrade level. Iron Gate is still working on a better fix, however, so players who have already been playing 1.0 should use backups and avoid removing high-level fish, weapons, armor, or other items from stands.
The Steam build also makes it easier to move the Cart through the Timberwood Drawbridge, and Jotun Puffs and Magecaps no longer look ready to pick after they have already been collected.
Valheim Hotfix 1.0.10 and 1.0.12 Patch Notes
The official notes separate the all-platform fixes from the Steam-only changes. The second group will be extended to other platforms in an upcoming hotfix.
Patch 1.0.10, All Platforms
- The heavy armour in Deep North can now be repaired
- Greydwarf Shamans in Deep North now deal appropriate amounts of damage and healing
- Punching no longer removes snow
- Landing on snow without directly walking now removes the snow
- Various sound effects updated for several creatures and the snow in Deep North
Patch 1.0.12, Steam Only
The following fixes are fully crossplay compatible and will be extended to all platforms in an upcoming hotfix, which we’re pushing out as soon as possible.
- Using the Forge of Potential no longer unlocks recipes that should not be unlocked
- Items on armour stands and item stands no longer lose their durability & upgrade level IF the world has not yet been loaded in the 1.0 update (We are however looking into a better fix for this so do not remove high level items (fish, weapons, armour, etc) from your item stands without using backups if you have been playing 1.0!)
- Fixed a crash that could trigger when players tried to access a zone that wasn’t loaded
- Fixed a problem with banlist and whitelist that made them only compatible with new IDs (e.g. V_123456789) even though they should work with old IDs too (e.g. Steam_123456789)
- There is now a popup message to make it more clear when you can receive achievements again after them being temporarily disabled
- Achievements can be now be opted into even if you have used devcommands or mods by the new devcommand ‘yesiuseddevcommandsbutiwantmyachievementsanyway’
- It’s now easier to fit the Cart through the Timberwood Drawbridge
- Jotun Puffs and Magecaps no longer look pickable when they have been picked
